Are online codes, e.g. for additional content or downloads, still valid?

We assume that these codes have already been redeemed as we are dealing with used goods. Please note that one-time redeemable codes for premium editions, day-one editions, etc. have probably already been used up. However, sometimes you are lucky and the code has not yet been used.
